Ignoring Daily Waves of Anxiety
During the end of my 2nd trimester I started to feel regular “waves” of anxiety. These are best described as quick, full body shakes....
PMAD Stories is a collection of authentic, heartfelt stories about anxiety, depression and all the emotions felt throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
After delivering my first baby, I was suffering pretty badly from postpartum anxiety, also know as PMAD. However, I didn’t know this for a while because none of the stories or information online aligned to how I felt. I was taking the PMAD screen at every pediatric visit, but no one ever talked to me about my results, so I assumed everything I was feeling was “normal”. Thankfully, at my 6-week OBGYN postpartum checkup my doctor actually reviewed my results from the PMAD screen and said, “you screened pretty low, how are you feeling?”. At this point I broke down in tears and we discussed that what I was feeling wasn’t “normal” and could be helped. She suggested I go back on anxiety medication (Lexapro) and that plus therapy completely changed my motherhood experience. Since then, I’ve been passionate about sharing my story and trying to help others through their PMAD journey.
Hence the creation of PMAD Stories.
